Why is it called a Globo gym? ›

The term Globo Gym comes from the movie Dodgeball and refers to your typical body building or classic isolated lifting done in a "regular" gym. As CrossFitters, we've had it ingrained in us to reject all things globo and aesthetic, so we can chase after the functional.

The Purple Cobras are an ADAA team made by members of Globo Gym. They are the rivals of the Average Joe's.

White Goodman is the main antagonist of the 2004 sports comedy film Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. He is the founder of Globo-Gym, leader of the dodgeball team known as the Purple Cobras and the arch-rival of Peter LaFleur.

Using it to instinctually dodge Goodman's attempted throw, he manages to take down White and Average Joe's wins the game. Peter manages to outwit White afterwards by publicly buying the controlling stake of Globo Gym with the extra winnings, and publicly fires him.
